A Knitting For Neighbors Community Project
The Novito Project
Our employee and good friend Cynthia Novito-Mason is leading this campaign to help provide warm clothing, hats, scarves, gloves and mittens for the hundreds of homeless teens in the Bremerton/Kitsap County area.

Cynthia's much loved brother, Rick Novito, passed away unexpectedly almost two years ago, and not a day goes by that Cynthia and her family don't think of Rick and his good natured desire to help other people. Cynthia decided to lead this campaign, which we call "The Novito Project" here in the shop in memory of Rick, and our customers have once again thrown themselves into the project full-heartedly.

We are collecting handknit hats, scarves, and handwarmers of any sort that are appropriate for teens and young adults. These individuals are living in area shelters or on the streets and need items that are hard-wearing, warm, and easy to wash/dry.

Items are needed for both men and woman, and our Knitting for Neighbors hat pattern is appropriate for this group - just use the largest size. We can also accept warm jackets and outerwear in clean, useable condition, as well as store bought hats, gloves, etc. The items are passed along to our neighbors in our building, Coffee Oasis, who work directly with the homeless teens in our area through Hope in Christ Ministries.
