H A T S FOR B A C K P A C K S A Knitting For Neighbors Community Project
Last year we partnered with a local church to help provide hats for children who need them here in our town of Port Orchard. There are many children who receive a backpack each Friday filled with nutritious snacks and food to help assure that the children have adequate food over the weekend and to help out those families in need. We rallied the forces to help add a hat to those backpacks so that the children could also keep warm and dry during our cold and damp Washington winters.
The Knitting for Neighbors Hat pattern is appropriate for this project. Be sure to use the smaller sizes as the children receiving these hats are in elementary school. Please remember that comfortable and easy to wash/dry fibers are the best for these hats.
Those readers who wish to send hats in for this project, or any of our other Knitting for Neighbors projects, may send them to A Good Yarn Shop directly and we will be sure to get them into the proper hands for distribution.
